The Red Point & Tortie Point
Siamese Cat Club
The Club is affiliated to the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and caters for Red Point, Cream Point, Apricot Point and all colours of Tortie Point Siamese. (These breeds are known as Colorpoint Shorthairs in the US)
Club members do not have to breed or show - many own Red, Tortie or Cream Point Siamese pets or are simply interested in these breeds. They get a free Club Journal twice a year - of varying thickness depending on the contributions received!
The Club is always happy to tell people about Red, Tortie or Cream Point Siamese - whether they want a pet or a show or breeding cat.
What the Club does
The aims of the Club, as stated in its Rules, are
The Committee meets throughout the year to discuss items of importance to our breeds and our members.
All members are invited to the Annual General Meeting, which is often accompanied by a Garden Party.
Welfare
Like all GCCF Clubs, the Club has a welfare officer who helps with the rescue and rehoming of unwanted, neglected or stray Red, Tortie, Cream and Apricot Point Siamese; the Clubs co-operate on this, since often one will have a cat needing a home while another has a enquiry from someone offering a home to a rescued Siamese.
Standards of Points & Judges
The Club is a member of the Siamese Cat Joint Advisory Committee - the Breed Advisory Committee for Siamese. The SCJAC consists of representatives from each of the Siamese Clubs and meets twice a year; it proposes changes to the Standards of Points or Registration Policy when necessary, as well as monitoring the candidates in the Judge Appointment scheme and proposing suitable candidates (who have completed the training scheme) for appointment as Judges of Siamese. These proposals then have to be approved at a GCCF Council meeting by delegates from all the Affiliated Clubs.
Shows
Each May, the Club, jointly with the Tabby Pointed Siamese Cat Society, holds a Championship show for Tabby, Red, Tortie and Cream Point Siamese, known as the Breed 32 Cat Association Show.
In addition, the Club puts on Club classes at as many GCCF Championship Shows as possible, with rosettes to the winners, and offers Points Trophies as well as Trophies for wins at specific shows.
What else ?
The Club produces free leaflets, including
There are also Club key fobs and car stickers and some highly distinctive notelets.
Kitten & Stud enquiries
The Club has a kitten list and enquiries are always welcome, but you may find that you will have to wait for what you want. So often there are kittens on the list but no enquiries - or no kittens on the list when you want one!
If you are looking for a Red, Cream or Apricot Point at stud in the UK, please remember to email your queen's details as well: I wouldn't want to recommend her sire or brother by accident.
If you are looking for a kitten or stud outside the UK or Eire, I suggest you contact breeders in your area via the Fanciers Breeder Referral List (look under Colorpoint Shorthair) unless you really wish to import a kitten.
