Gormenghast ... and then there were the white ones. This is Southview Duaha, a daughter of Anart's Miiko (a Recessive White female who was imported from the USA). She was born in 1971 and actually came to live with me for a short while in 1974. She was the grandmother of Phaeon Phairantickles. | |
 | Southview Cia - 'Flossie', a great-granddaughter of Anart's Miiko, came to join the gang in 1974. She died in 1985 with an abdominal cancer (FeLV negative). This is her first litter of three Havanas, sired by Southview Trapper. |
| Because there was a question about the viability of a near-albino cat, the GCCF, for a few years, refused to register the recessive Whites and their offspring. When, after various investigations, they could be registered, I had rather a lot of registering to do - I actually owned 20 of them altogether and 14 were registered in this batch, together with their various Siamese and Oriental descendants. This accounts for some of the rather boring names - they were, by then, their pet names in their new homes, so I just used them instead of dreaming up new ones. This is 'Flossie' in 1979. | |
 | This is Flossie again, in 1980. Angela Sayer (Rixon) took this photo and used a very blue-based film to draw up the colour. The eyes were not really this blue, but looked like glass slightly tinted with a bright blue - a transparent look, not like the opaque pale grey-blue seen in some Colourpointed British. |
| Palantir Alabaster was from Flossie's fourth litter, but first mating to another White - Southview Quando - who had joined the gang in 1976. Alabaster had a disaster with her first litter (two born dead and the other two dead within a couple of days) so she decided to adopt - five of Mallorn's and five of Nenya's. Her repeat mating was successful and produced seven little tearaways of her own | |

| This collection - feeding time in Gormenghast 1977 - is Southview Cia, Phaeon Junket, Phaeon Pinky, Phaeon Perky and 'Fuchsia'. The last four were all sired by Southview Quando. He was a great-grandson of Anart's Miiko and half-brother to Flossie. After being neutered he moved to live with a neighbour and spent most of his time terrorising the wildlife in the garden. He lived to the ripe old age of 17 - how's that for a non-viable breed! |
 | Junket enjoyed babysitting. Here he is with his litter from Flossie, born in 1978 - Palantir Yoghurt, Palantir Curds, Palantir Whey, Palantir Starsky and Palantir Hutch. |
| This is Palantir Semolina, the result of a highly incestuous mating between Yoghurt and Whey. Despite being so inbred, she lived to a happy old age as a neutered pet. | |
 | Phaeon Junket (Southview Quando x Phaeon Phantamov Theopra, a daughter of Southview Duaha) was born in 1976. After he was neutered he went to live in Inverness with my friend Mo and was renamed Sooty. This is a picture of the elderly gent in retirement. |
